Brad Pitt’s “Fury” was Ferociously meh…

Let me start off by saying I’m not a fan of war films.  Not because I’m a girl (I do like my fare share of violent flicks), but because for the most part they’re all the same and boring!  I should perhaps make myself more clear.  Don’t mistake “Epics” (Ie: Gladiator, Braveheart, Troy etc)  with your standard 20th century Trench warfare/Nazi Germany flick.

It was a boring weekend with nothing planned and I heard the rave reviews from friends and critiques alike to check out “Fury”.  As I mentioned previously I have my reserves regarding 20th century war flicks, but I’m open minded and I think Brad Pitt is an underrated actor.  The story centers around “Wardaddy” (Brad Pitt) and his crew making their way through Nazi Germany on a final mission, in hopes to ending Hitler’s tyrannical reign.

The acting was great all around.  Brad did a great job in portraying the leader of these questionable characters, and brought a sincerity/lethality to his character.  The rest of the cast aka crew really brought their A game and you feel how each character was so different yet had a dysfunctional family bond going on.  The film consisted of a good script but it lacked a decent story.  It’s practically just like any other WWII flick out there.  Good guys come in, hate the Nazis kill the Nazis, show you the ugliness of war and blah blah blah.  It’s boring, it’s more of the same and a tired played out account.  Yes I realize it’s a telling of a historical account but throw the audience a curveball.  Less Hollywood cheese (one crew to kill them all) and more foundation in the story (yes we know Nazis are evil).  I still stand by what I say that all war films that take place in the 20th century are meh and so was Fury.

2.5/5 🙁
